The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen is a not for profit community service program run by Jon Bon Jovi. They serve meals to those who are hungry and might not necessarily be able to pay for it. Instead of payment you can provide your time to volunteer and help out in the kitchen. Volunteers are guided by the kitchen staff and frequently insist on making meals for “customers”.
The menu has no prices. Instead, a minimum donation of $10 per meal is requested. If you can afford to donate more, then it is more than welcome that an additional donation could feed a family who can’t donate. If you can’t donate, you can volunteer as mentioned above. One hour of volunteer work equals one meal. Volunteering can lead to job training to work full time at the Soul Kitchen.
The chefs at the Soul Kitchen proved healthy meals using the freshest ingredients; some of the ingredients are grown directly in the Soul Kitchens very own garden. Their mantra is to provide, friendship, happiness, kindness, respect and love to those who are hungry or to those who are looking for a good meal and want to donate.
The Soul Kitchen doesn’t require or accept any reservations. You are served on a first come first serve basis and are seated with everybody else. It creates an atmosphere where everyone gets to know each other. In a way, the atmosphere resembles a large banquet and a party.
Sal Taddeo Jr. is a successful businessman with culinary training from the International Culinary Center. He volunteers his time to the Soul Kitchen providing his culinary skills when he can.
